Violation details:
On Monday, June 3rd, 2002, at 09:30 AM, a group of Israeli civil administration personnel arrived in the areas of Hirab Odeh and Beer Al- Haj in Issawiya land. The Israeli intruders who were under the protection of military forces threw some papers before leaving the scene.
Later, an Arab man picked the papers up and found that they were written Hebrew language. He handed them over to land owners who discovered that they were containing military confiscation orders of 40 dunums of their land. The landowners rushed to their land to investigate the matter. While they were there, an officer from the Israeli civil administration arrived and informed landowners of the confiscation order. He handed them another copy of the order including a map. The order, which carried the number of 4/11/T , stated that 40 dunums of the land were confiscated for military purposes. The land owners were given a one week time to object the order in Israeli courts which is considered a relatively short time.
In an interview with LRC field worker, one of the landowners said:
" The confiscated land is arid land which contains no cultivation. According to the military order the land was seized for military purposes ( they want to establish a military training camp on it). Two years earlier, with the help of late Faisal Husseini, we built small rooms on the land and planted a number of olive trees on it. However, the Israeli army later destroyed the rooms and uprooted the trees. The army informed us that were not allowed to use the land for any purposes. Back in 1985, we applied for building licenses on our land but all our efforts were in vain".
