Impact of Separation Wall on the people and land of Al Mughayyir village - Jenin Governorate

Location and population: the village of Al Mughayyir is located 11 km to the east of Jenin city. Its population is estimated at 2100 citizens.
Village area: The village total area is 10000 dunum ( one dunum equals 1000 M2). Out of this area, 300 dunum has been seized for the construction of the Separation Wall, as well as the isolation and separation of at least 850 dunum. The village built up area is 310 dunum.
The village and wall:
The village is located to the south west of the Wall which has been built over a strip of land 3. 5 km long. The village is between 400-1000 meter away from the wall. The village citizens were informed of the military order to confiscate their land for the purpose of the Wall construction only 3 days before the commence of actual works on July 21st, 2003. The target areas are called Korom Sbeih, Wadi Al Khanzir, Al Ahrash Al Hokomiya and Al Matulla.
The total area of land confiscated is estimated at 300 dunum divided as followed:
1. 50 dunum forest ( about 200 pine and eucalyptus trees were destroyed);
2. 31 dunum cultivated with almond, fig and olive trees ( about 400 tree of the aforementioned types were uprooted and destroyed):
3. 229 dunum as crop fields.
Regarding the separated land the total area is estimated at 850 dunum divided as followed:
1. 50 dunum cultivated with olive, almond and fig trees ( 600 tree):
2. 50 dunum for un-irrigated crops:
3. 750 dunum of forests.
Impact of the wall on the village people and land:
1. The prevention of at least 200 workers from reaching their workplaces inside Israel proper resulting in a sharp increase of unemployment and poverty in the village.
2. The separation and besiege of agricultural land by the Wall has led to the further deterioration of the village economic income and the destruction of crops and fields.
3. The continuous movement of Israeli army patrols and security personnel in the vicinity of the village has increased the feeling of fear and danger amongst local inhabitants working in their land or performing their daily activities.
