The Seventh Intermediary Report for the 

"Monitoring Israeli Colonizing Activities" Project

January - March 2005 

This report highlights the events concerning colonizing activities in the following districts of the West Bank: Jenin, Tulkarem, Qalqiliya, Nablus, Salfit, Tubas, Hebron and Jerusalem that occurred between the months of January and March, 2005. The report describes and evaluates those events and their effects on the Palestinian community.

B. The total area of  the devastated land is 75819 dunums;

C. Losses in olive sector is 16,450,184$;

D. Losses ensuing from land devastation and costs of rehabilitation  is 60,655,200 $.

The number of dunums that were already confiscated, devastated, separated behind the Apartheid Segregation Wall, annexed to colonies and seized for military and security purposes is estimated at 28618.2 dumum. Some of the confiscated lands are located in the vicinity of existing colonies and were directly seized by colonists.

2.     Tree uprooting:

The total of at least 3605 trees of different types, mostly olives, was uprooted from Palestinian land for different purposes during the past three months.

  1. House demolition:

The total of 3 housing units were dynamited for security reasons and 18 housing units were demolished under the pretext of un-licensing making about 30 people as homeless. In addition, demolition orders were issued against 89 housing units under the pretext of being close to the path of the Wall or because of un-licensing.

4. House seizure:

22 Palestinian houses were forcibly seized by Israeli army and turned  into military observation posts after dismissing occupants or confining them to limited space inside their houses.
