Violation: the establishment of a new colonial outpost.

Location: Jabeet area - Al-Mughir village / Ramallah and Al-Bireh governorate.

Violation date:01/04/2022  AD.

The aggressor: a group of settlers.

Affected party: Abu Alia and Al-Na'asan families.

Violation details:

On Friday morning, April 01, 2022, an extremist group of settlers began establishing a new, racist, colonial outpost of a pastoral nature on the lands of Khirbet Jabet in the “Marah Abu Abbas” area, located to the east of the village of Al-Mughayer, within lands classified by the occupation as “state lands” and blocking it to farmers in the village, noting That the land belongs to farmers from the families of Abu Alia and Al-Naasan.

During the field follow-up of the field research team at the Land Research Center, the colonial outpost was monitored, which consisted of four tents used for raising sheep and five residential tents on an area estimated at 7 dunums, a threat to all surrounding agricultural lands to be seized for the expansion of the colonial outpost.

It must be added that the colonial outpost is located at a distance of no more than 300 meters to the west from another colonial outpost established three years ago on the ruins of an occupation camp in the same area, as this contributed completely to the closure of agricultural lands.

For his part, the affected farmer, Ibrahim Abu Alia, a resident of Khirbet Jabet, told the field researcher of the Land Research Center the following:

“For a long time, we have been witnessing attacks by the settlers, represented by the theft and poisoning of sheep, as well as the continuous raids on our tents, exposing the residents of the community to extreme danger. With this new outpost, there will be a real danger to us, which is to tighten the noose around us in the pastures, and even the plain fields owned by us, the colonists will seek to seize it and prevent us from exploiting it, as there are more than 350 dunums of land planted with field crops in the Jebe’it area. These lands will be threatened by the settlers, which means that our lives in Jebe`t are in grave danger, with two outposts advancing daily towards the village lands”.

It is noteworthy that Khirbet Jabet is considered an extension of the lands of the village of Al-Mughir Al-Shafaghouria Al-Sharqiya, which is owned by the residents of the village and was previously inhabited. But today, in the presence of the two colonial outposts, the ruins have become almost empty of farmers, due to the threats of the settlers and the repeated attacks on the land and farms in the area, where there are only nine families of the Abu Alia family still living in the area in primitive conditions, where tents are the dwelling place for them. Needless to mention that they suffer from poor basic services provided to them in the place.
