Violation: A colonist intentionally kills four sheep that belong to a Palestinian herder.

Description:

August 6^th 2020, an Israeli illegal colonist intentionally ran over a sheep herd in Turmus’ayya , and killed four sheep. The herd belongs to Rezq Abu ‘Alya from Al-Mughayyir village.

Herder Rezq Abu ‘Alya told LRC the following:

“I work in cattle breeding, and that is the only source of income for my family, we usually go with our herd to Turmus’ayya plain land about 3 km to the west from Al-Mughayyir .

Thursday morning, I went with my family to pasture in Turmus’ayya , it was very peaceful there , and we enjoyed food , tea , and coffee cooked on outdoor fire . However at the evening we saw a fire in a new illegal outpost 1 km to the east of Shilo colony, and about 200 m away from our location, we decided to go home, but we were surprised of two cars coming our way from the outpost and ran over the herd intentionally, the drivers kept turning around and chasing the sheep that they couldn’t get at the first time. 

The cars involved in the attack were an old grey Hyundai and a white four-wheel car that apparently belong to a security member. Four of the sheep were killed and more than seven were seriously injured, we brought a vet to help stopping the bleed and set bones for some of the sheep, my loss reached about 15,000 shekels. Now we prefer to posture in other areas to avoid colonists continuous harassments.

Since the establishment of this new outpost in Turmus’ayya , Colonists attacks to farmers escalated notably , represented in setting fire to crops , attacking herds and herders , and sabotaging farmlands.

 It is located 25 km to the north east of Ramallah city. It has a population of 3736 people (according to a 2007 census). Its total area is 18139 dunums, 1350 of which are built-up area. About 11218 dunums of land are under Area B (PA is in charge of civil matters with Israel responsible for security) and 6921 dunums are under Area C (Israel maintains full security and administrative control).

The Israeli occupation confiscated vast areas of the village for the benefit of the following colonies:

1. Shilo and Mizpe Rahel devoured 1023 dunums
2. Mizpe Rahel  devoured 706 dunums
3. The bypass road number 60 stole 12.5 dunum
