Violation : Construction of a new colonial road
Location : Qusra town, south of Nablus
Date : February, 2025
Perpetrators : A group of settlers
Victims : Several farmers from the area
Details :
A group of settlers has began to open a colonial road to link between the settlements of ‘’Adi Ad ‘’, established on the lands of Jaloud and the pastoral colonial outpost located east of Qusra town, south of Nablus governorate.According to field monitoring at the site of the violation, the settlers have undertaken the construction of colonial road, approximately 1500 meters long and 9 meters wide, located within Palestinian pastoral lands , classified by occupation as ‘’state lands’’. They have also laid down ‘’ Baskores’’ material and installed street lighting along the entire length of the road.
It is worth noting that the main objective of this road is to pave the way for complete control over the entire area, creating a connection that facilitates the expansion of colonial activity to cover more than 400 dunams of land, located between the outpost and ‘’Adi Ad’’ settlement, It is important to note that most of the lands at this area are classified by the occupation as’’ state land.’’
Mr. Raed Haj Mohammad, told to LRC researcher :
‘’We are suffering greatly from the settlers’ construction of new road networks to connect the ‘’Adi Ad’’ settlement with the surrounding outposts, specially on the lands of Qusra and also Jaloud village. The goal is clear, to create a continuous and unified colonial entity that devours hundreds, if not thousands, of dunams. Isolating the remaining lands of the southern villages of Nablus. This threatens a major disaster at the area , turning the villages into isolated enclaves resembling refugee camps.’’
Israeli Occupation colonial expansion including : building colonies, opening colonial roads, and providing services to the settlement, among other actions, all violate numerous international laws.
Security Council Resolution 446 of 1979 "called upon Israel to rescind its previous measures and to desist from taking any action which would result in changing the legal status and geographical nature or materially affect the demographic composition of the Arab territories occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem, and, in particular, not to transfer parts of its own civilian population."
Resolution No. 452 of 1970, which the security council calls on the Israeli occupation authorities to cease settlement activities in the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967, including Jerusalem.
Security resolution No. 465 of 1980, which states that all measures taken by Israel to alter the physical characteristic, demographic composition, and institutional structure in Palestinian territories and other Arab lands occupied since 1967, including Jerusalem or any part there of , have no legal basis. It further declares that Israeli ‘s actions of settling a portion of its population and new immigrants in these territories, constitute a blatant violation of the forth Geneve convention, connecting to protection of civilian in war.
