Violation : Burning of an agricultural shed and death of 7500 broiler chickens

Details : 

On the evening of Monday, February 10, 2025, a large force from the Israeli occupation army targeted Al Judeida village , located south of Jenin. Specifically, at 7:00 pm , and targeted a poultry farm made of zinc and concrete floor covering an area of 1200 meters.

The occupation army imposed a military siege on the farm and raided it under the pretext of searching for what they call ‘’ wanted individuals.’’. Israeli army fired sound and explosive bombs inside the poultry shed ,causing a large fire to break out and spread. As a result, 7500 broiler chickens inside the poultry barn to burn alive. Additionally, 10 tons of feed were burned and destroyed, as well as, medicines used in poultry farming, valued at 20000 shekels, in addition to Two vehicles near the poultry barn that were also burned before the Palestinian civil defense intervened and extinguished the fire.

The targeted shed belongs to farmer Hussain Adnan Hussain Bani Odeh, who supports a family consisting of 5 members, 3 of them are children and one female.

Affected farmer, Hussain Adnan Hussain Bani Odeh, told LRC the following:

I have relied on poultry farming as my only source of income, and I have been working in this profession for over 35 years, I don’t have any other source of income. On the evening of Monday , I was surprise to find that the occupation army had surrounded the shed, and there were farm workers inside, The occupation claims that the workers were wanted by them, The occupation army then opened fire, broke the shed’s door, and stormed inside, They also threw gas grenades inside. The shed, which caused it to catch fire, the workers were arrested, and this lead to serve losses for me, that cannot be compensated in any way. The civil defense helped in extinguishing the fire.

It is worth mentioning that the Israeli occupation has recently intensified its attacks on private Palestinian property in Jenin governorate, numerous buildings and agricultural facilities have been targeted, causing chaos in the region, under the pretext of searching for individuals they claim to be wanted.
