The affected farmer, Yahia Abu Shakhadm (22 years old), told LRC researcher:

“On July 29, 2024, we found the occupation authorities’ eviction notices posted on our lands, notifying me and my other neighbors about the obligation to vacate. We hired a private lawyer to legally challenge the notice, but the occupation authorities rejected the objections and bulldozed our lands.”

the notice to evict on the lands of citizens

The occupation authorities justify the uprooting of citizens’ crops and the destruction of their lands by claiming that they ‘’ possess land classified as state lands”. According to the interpretations of this claim, the occupation has previously expropriated the lands that were destroyed and transferred their ownership and the right to use them to what is known as the Comissioner of government properties and abandoned lands in Judea and Samaria, in accordance with laws inherited in Palestinian territories and military orders issued by the occupation in occupied West Bank.

According to these explanations, the occupation authorities prohibit landowners whose lands are classified as ‘’state land’’ from working, cultivating, and reclaiming, considering this a violation and an invasion of lands. They issue eviction notices for these lands, demanding that citizens demolish what they have built and planted. And restore the land to its previous condition within approximately one to one and half months. If the citizens don’t demolish what they have constructed or planted, the occupation authorities carry out the notices, ravaging the lands and demolishing the structures. This is done to limit agricultural and residential expansion on these lands, keeping them as a reserve for their colonial projects.
