Violation: Establishment a new colonial outpost.

Location: As Sawiya village, south Nablus.

Date:January, 2025.

Perpetrators: Settlers. 

Affected party: Several farmers. 

Details:

 In February, As Sawyia village located south Nablus witnessed that settlers establish a new colonial outpost within Ras Al Ein area located east the village, as they sat three metal barracks in addition to residential tent on 4 dunams of agricultural lands belong to several farmers in the village (Mahamdeh and Jazi and Khair Alallah families).

A new colonial outpost located on just 300 meters north Nafeh Shoham settlement follow up to Eli settlement, as the occupation establish a linking road between a new colonial and ancient outpost, in addition to several roads links it with Eli settlement, changing the features of an area as a whole and take control over As Sawiya lands which amounted hundreds dunams planted with olive trees. 

 the affected farmer, Mohammad Dawoud Abd Al Razziq said:

‘’ Since the establishment of this outpost, farmers are unable to enter their land. Before the establishment of the outpost, all the lands planted with olive trees were cultivated and checking up but today it’s difficult to existing there, so dozens dunams planted with olive we can’t take care of it. In addition to linking roads between outposts and Eli Settlement that threat dozens dunams around this outpost.’’

 According to field research team at LRC, As Sawiya village suffers from constant harassment by settlers. Over past 20 years, they cut the branches of trees and damaging several numbers of lands in addition to closed off large areas and preventing farmers from accessing it, causing heavy losses extended to agricultural sector in the village, noted that most of targeted lands focus in east village, in surrounding of Eli settlement and colonial outposts. 

About As Sawiya village:

20 km south Nablus city , As-Sawiya is surrounded by Yatma and Yasouf (north) , Al-Lubban Ash-Sharqi (west) , Talfit and Qablan (east) and Al-Lubban Ash-Sharqi and “Eli” Israeli illegal settlement (south).

As-Sawiya has a population of (2761) people according to 2017 census.

As-Sawiya has a total area of 10,733 dunums , of which 310 dunums are a built up area for the village.

The Israeli occupation confiscate (2662) dunums of its lands for the following purposes:

• Israeli settlement took over (2022) dunums for:

• Bypass 60 devoured 640 dunums.
• Oslo accords divided the town’s lands as the following:

B area: (1459) dunums.

C area : (9274) dunums.
