Halt of Work and Demolition Orders for Structures in Saffa Village / Ramallah Governorate

Violation: Halt of work and demolition noticed for structures.

Location:  Saffa  village / Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate.

Date: August 1st 2022.

Perpetrators: The Building Inspector at the Israeli Civil Administration.

Victims: The village Council , Sameer Nasser , Hani Muqaimer , Yousif Abu Ta’aa , Nibras Al-‘Anani.

Description:

Monday morning, August 1st 2022, The Israeli occupation and the building inspector at the Israeli Civil Administration raided Al-Harayeq area west  Saffa  village northwest Ramallah city , and served notices to five structures on the pretext of building without a license in area C.

According to the military orders , the occupation sat August 24th 2022 as the date of the building and organization session in Beit El military court to decide the fate of the structures.

 Saffa  village council head Jamal Falna told LRC the following:

“The Only aim is to prohibit any new structures at the village , the targeted structures are a part of the only park at the town, that was funded by the village council with support from ministry of Local Governance , and to reduce stress on the village citizens who have been living under the occupation’s siege for years.”

The Israeli Occupation also served a halt of work notice to a pergola of zinc and woods that belongs to the village council in  Saffa  Village , and located close to the Colonial road Bypass “443” which penetrates a large parts of the village lands and separates its lands.

According to military order number (621742) the occupation gave the owner 14 days to return the place to its previous status.

 The affected citizen Yousif Abu Ta’a told LRC the following: “This deprives us from our right to use our own land. 

I invested everything I have to build this park , which is the only source of income for the family , and there is no excuse for the occupation to target the structures.”

Saffa  village:

About 17 kilometers north west Ramallah,   Saffa  is surrounded by Bil’in north , and the occupied terrirories of 1948) , Kufu Ni’ma , Deir Ibzi’a. eit ‘Our At-Tihta East , Kharabtha Al-Misbah and Beit Sira (south)

 Saffa  has a population of 4350 dunums in 2017 census.

  1. Bypass road (443/ 446) devoured (425) dunums located behind the annexation and expansion wall.
  2. The Annexation and Expansion Wall(cement wall and siege ) around 434 m , that ravages 435 dunums and isolates 8086 dunums.
